My name is Robert Redd and thank you for visiting my author page. I live in central Florida, south of the “world’s most famous beach.”
My main historical interests are the Civil War and the history of the area I live in. I am one of those very lucky people who have a great job in the field of history. I currently serve as the Cultural Coordinator for the County of Volusia. I also served as Executive Director for the New Smyrna Museum of History for four years. I also served as a volunteer member of the Volusia County Historic Preservation Board. Please realize that all posts and comments are my own and do not represent the views of the County of Volusia.
I am what would most likely be called a “regional”, or “local” historian. I write about the area I know; Florida. I don’t have a particular time period I specialize in but rather write about what interests me. If it’s interesting and there’s a need I will pursue it. Trust me, the ideas are endless.
I have authored, or co-authored, nine books, all published by Arcadia Publishing. These books can be purchased in my web store, in many stores throughout Florida and online, through my publisher, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and more. Also, please consider contacting your local, independent bookstore. If they don’t carry my books they can easily order them for you.
Currently, I am finishing up work on a book for Reedy Press which should be released in spring 2026 and I am under contract to pen my tenth book for Arcadia Publishing. Look for it in late 2026 or early 2027. I have several other projects in varying stages of development and research. The possibilities are truly endless.
I have been blessed to receive solid constructive advice from other authors and hope to be able to do the same for others. If you would like to contact me please do not hesitate to reach out.
