Robert Redd - Author & Historian

Meet Robert Redd

My name is Robert Redd and thank you for visiting my author page. I live in central Florida, south of the “world’s most famous beach.”

My main historical interests are the Civil War and the history of the area I live in. I am one of those very lucky people who have a great job in the field of history. I currently serve as the Cultural Coordinator for the County of Volusia.  I also served as Executive Director for the New Smyrna Museum of History for four years. I also served as a volunteer member of the Volusia County Historic Preservation Board.  Please realize that all posts and comments are my own and do not represent the views of the County of Volusia.

I am what would most likely be called a “regional”, or “local” historian. I write about the area I know; Florida. I don’t have a particular time period I specialize in but rather write about what interests me. If it’s interesting and there’s a need I will pursue it. Trust me, the ideas are endless.

My fourth, published by Arcadia/History Press, was released in January 2021.

I have recently signed a contract to pen my fifth book for Arcadia Publishing. This one will take me back to my interest in the Civil War. Look for a release date most likely in the second half of 2022. I have also been approached about possibly assisting with a World War II title.

I have been blessed to receive solid constructive advice from other authors and hope to be able to do the same for others. If you would like to contact me please do not hesitate to reach out.
